Do`s and Dont`s for CV

Our placements activities have kicked off and we have been asked to get armed for it starting with a CV.

 

There are ample of websites guiding us for it but again the information is so much. So i thought narraowing doing the scope of resources will help us bigtime :)

I just wanted some basic tips and suggestions for it, like do`s and dont`s, normal mistakes the freshers do, etc..

Your resume needs a lot of formatting work. Please check Jagz resume in the post. Either use that format or any other suitable format.  Good formatting does make a good first impression. Without a well formatted resume you will not make an impresssion. Please get that done right away.

 

Secondly you need to put in a lot more thought and detail into your projects,please check my comment above for Santosh applies for your resume as well.

Hi Pragati,

I have made the required changes and added comments to your resume. One additional thing. Always write B.Sc.(Comp. Sci.) and M.Sc.(Comp. Sci.) instead of BCS and MCS. Also, reduce your font size to 10 or 11. 14 is too huge. Hope that's helpful.

hey pragati, i hope you dont mind if i add a small point ,

 - avoid mentioning weaknesses in CV and also don`t tell them yourself in the interview unless asked :)

  CV is like your first impression for the interviewer and you dont want him to already have few negative things regarding you even before he talks with you.

Hi Pragati,

1. First of all, add a bit more detail to your projects' description. 

2. Change 'Dancing-mostly folk and western styles and also like to choreograph kids' to 

Dancing( folk and western). 

3. Change  'Reading Fiction Books most likely Love Stories' to

Reading novels(fiction)

4. Change 'Listening to Music of all kinds(depending onmood) ; Watching Movies with full of enthusiasm , inspiration and romantic.' to 

Listening to music, watching movies

Also no need to write each alphabet in caps.

5. Put in about 4 strengths or max. 5...
