Peepaal

Continuous Community Learning

Problem Statement and Scope:-

Problem Statement :-

If there are web pages you visit daily or regularly. It’s hard to get updates on time basis.  Every time we have to clear cache & history and visit same site again & again. Basically, when new article is posted or a change made to a web page this application keeps track of the changes and delivers them to user.

Scope:-

The reader allows you to read the content on its original page, mark it as read, rate it, that lets you organize, search, categorize the updates from various sites. And will notify the user about new updates by email.

Novelty of Idea:-

Fetching of rss feeds from various education sites like Peepaal, stack overflow etc. and  add to widget.

 Technology Layers:-

Language:- Java, Xml

Platform: - Android

Tools: - Eclipse Galileo

Relevance and Application:

It’s an excellent pipeline for Internet users to get updated content and online articles the stuff you want without having to search for it.

Proof Of Concept:-

We haven’t done with POC working on it. First part we are trying to fetch rss feed from Peepaal for this application.

Research and Development:-

Improves on existing solution/Provides a new solution

There is no any rss feed reader available for educational website like peepaal.

nikhil, actually we both were facing same problem. after debugging the code we found exception throwing at this line

InputSource is = new InputSource(url.openStream());

ERROR :- UnknownHostExcpetion on peepaal.org

problem is solved by adding permission

<uses-permission android:name="android.permission.INTERNET" />
on AndroidManifest.xml file now that problem solved. now we are able fetch rss feed and displaying on screen and also redirecting page to the sites through application.

Yup archis greader is very good for rss feeds :)

This application is only for taking educational information like cloud computing blog posted on peepaal & some other site also havng blog on cloud computing. dat should be segregated  & stored under cloud computing blogs..

I use Google Reader as the only means to get updates from Peepaal. :-) Been doing that since... well since Peepaal has existed.
